Introduction of Edge

With the end of support for Internet Explorer, Edge has been introduced to Windows terminals and Remote Desktop.
You may be prompted to migrate to Edge, but you can continue to use Internet Explorer 11.

ArcGIS Pro on Remote Desktop Service

ArcGIS Pro has been installed on Remote Desktop Service.
Sign-in on ArcGIS Pro with your Unified Authentication ID is required to use it (*2).
The procedure is as follows.

  1. Start ArcGIS Pro
  2. Select “Your ArcGIS organization’s URL” for “Sign in with”
  3. Input u-tsukuba in the form and click “Continue”
  4. Click “Univ. of Tsukuba”
  5. Next, you see the authentification page. Enter your ID and Password

*1 Shibboleth authentification is used. So, if you already sign-in manaba or so, the authentication step will be skipped.
*2 Contact us if you are a Professors Emeriti, researchers and so on, who need account application.

Network Maintenance (Feb. 23, 2022 12:00-13:00)

SINET5 (the upstream line that our university uses for external connections), which is provided by the National Institute of Informatics, will be replaced by SINET6.
During the connection change work, communication with off-campus and communication between Tsukuba Campus, Tokyo Campus, and related facilities will be temporarily disconnected.

Request to move files on the Web server (the 3rd announcement)

Those who publish web pages on the Zengaku Computer System with the following URLs are eligible. (Those who use “http” instead of “https”).
Other users are not eligible.

[Impact]

Web pages that have been published will no longer be viewable.

[How to fix it]

If you have HTTP web contents on the web server of the Zengaku Computer System, please migrate them to HTTPS web contents by the end of January 2022. For details, please refer to the following URL.

The current plan is to change the configuration so that HTTP access to www will be redirected to HTTPS access to wwws during the scheduled maintenance in February 2022.

Operation Schedule of Zengaku Computer System during the New Year’s holiday

Zengaku Computer system will be operated during the new year’s holiday.

  1. Usage of terminal PC at satellite room and library

    Satellite room and library will be closed from Wednesday, December 29, 2021 until Monday, January 3, 2022.

  2. Closing period of Academic Computing & Communications Center

About uninstalling Brackets

Brackets, software currently available in Zengaku Computer System, will end its support on September 1st, 2021. Along with this, Brackets will be uninstalled from the Zengaku Computer System.
Brackets can be used until the regular maintenance day in August (August 22nd), but we cannot guarantee its use after that. Migration to Visual Studio Code is recommended, so please consider early migration.
