Remote Desktop server is not available or you may be forced to log out during the following time due to temporary maintenance.
■The next new remote desktop connection cannot be made for about 10 minutes between 10:00 and 11:00.
a) Connect with a web browser(HTML5)

■The web connection of the Zengaku Computer System will be unavailable for about 10 minutes between 14:00 and 15:00.
■The next new remote desktop connection cannot be made for about 10 minutes between 10:00 and 11:00.

■Users may be forced to log out between 11:30-13:00.

E-mail sending function is not available temporarily
on remote desktop servers because of phishing incident.
Please use web e-mail system if you want to send e-mails.
We are receiving numerous reports on phishing mails disguised as an internal warning notice as shown below.
These are attempts to gain access to the accounts of the Unified Authentication System and other systems.
DO NOT click the URL links in the phishing mails.
If you have clicked the link and have input your ID and password,
renew the password immediately.
The password of the Unified Authentication System can be changed from the page of the Zengaku Computer System. Follow the menu “Log-in, Password” -> “Changing resetting your password”
As for passwords of other systems, please follow instructionsby the
respective administrators.
Adobe Flash Player will no longer be supported as of December 31, 2020.

Along with this, Flash Player will be uninstalled from the Zengaku Computer System in December.
Users who use Flash Player in classes should take measures such as switching to use other applications in advance.
From 21:55 to 23:08 on August 27, 2020, there was a failure
in the mail server of the Zengaku Computer System, and it
may have been impossible to send or receive e-mails during
this time.
That was resolved, now.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause
to our users.
Operation of some satellite rooms was changed on August 26 .
Details are below. It will be updated as needed.
Availability of Satellite Rooms
The use of zengaku PC terminals in the Academic Computing and Communications Center’s Satelite room will resume on Wednesday, August 26.
Currently available details are as follows.
・Opening time : 09:00 – 15:00
・Consider the following
– Ventilation
– Disinfecting the keyboard and mouse
– Maintaining social distance between users
– Full-time supervisor is always available.
This operation will continue at the Academic Computing and Communications Center’s Satelite room from October onwards.
We will secure access on the terminals for “Data Science” (Required course for first-year students starting in the fall semester) students (for not have a computer at home) .
Due to the online class period, the number of users using the remote desktop service is increasing.
This service is not designed to be used for online classes.
If about 30 users connect to the service at the same time, the following may occur
・The server load will increase.
・Sign-in failure.

To avoid errors, please consider the following.
Verify that the required software is available outside of the Remote Desktop Service.
Some of the licensed software contracted by the University of Tsukuba can be installed on students’ personal computers.
In this case, please switch to working on your own PC instead of connecting to Remote Desktop Service.
The software that can be used on the personal computer is as follows
Microsoft Office
Trend Micro anti-virus software
SPSS
Mathematica
ArcGIS
The satellite rooms will be locked down for a while to prevent the coronavirus.
From Apr. 24, 2020 (Fri), we will block outgoing TCP port 25 from the Windows
remote desktop of the Zengaku Computer System to improve security. Currently,
most of this communication is for unauthorized access, and this block has
almost no effect on the operating system or applications.
Starting October 1, 2018, we will be introducing a process for forced-terminating continuously running programs from the Linux (Ubuntu) server of the Zengaku Computer System. It is programs running for more than two weeks (i.e. consuming more than two weeks CPU time) that this process forced-terminates.

1. Web servers, CGI servers, Unix servers
– Suspended for a few minutes between 10:00 and 15:00.
2. License management
– Between 10:30 and 15:00, unavailable for approximately 30 minutes.
– The License Management Server will be suspended; therefore the applications below cannot be used:

Regarding the campus site license, the following applications installed on computers not belonging to the Zengaku Computer System will also be unavailable during this time:
SPSS, ArcGIS, Mathematica (Comprehensive Program).
3. Printers (including On-demand terminals)
– Between 10:00 and 20:00, each one unavailable for approximately 120 minutes.
Note that the devices below undergo maintenance on other days (weekdays).

Maintenance is to be performed on the Zengaku Computer System printers as follows:
During maintenance, printing will be disabled. When one printer stops due to maintenance at a location where there are two printers, the other will remain usable.
Paid-print service has started.

Due to maintenance, printers may be unavailable for about 15 minutes in each satellite on 4/6 (Friday) 22:00 -24:00.

in Ubuntu environment of satellite terminals, the oldhome with the old home data of the previous Zengaku Computer System had not been available.
