2000年、東京大学工学部化学生命工学科を卒業。2005年、東京大学大学院工学系研究科化学生命工学専攻において学位（博士（工学））を取得。 カンザス大学博士研究員、東京大学大学院工学系研究科助教などを経て現職。筑波大学大学院ライフイノベーション学位プログラムでは生体分子材料領域の領域コーディネーターを担当。 現在の専門分野はタンパク質工学、酵素工学。

Hidehiko HIRAKAWA recieived a BS degree form the University of Tokyo in 2000. After receiving his PhD degree from the University of Tokyo in 2005, he moved to University of Kansas to study oxidoreductases under the supervision of Prof. Julian Limburg. He was appointed an assistant professor of the University of Tokyo at the beginning of 2009. In the Spring 2018, He joined the faculty of University ot Tsukuba. He is a course coordinator of Biomolecular Enigineering Course of Master's/Doctoral Program in Life science Innovation. His research specialties are protein engineering and enzyme engineering.
