E-Learning Course “INFOSS Information Ethics”

To Students,

The University of Tsukuba has introduced self-instructive e-learning course “INFOSS Information Ethics” as part of information security education. This e-learning course provides students with knowledge and manners related to information and communication technology so that they will not cause a problem or will not be victimized in this information society. Undergraduates will be prompted to take the course in common fundamental subject course “Information Literacy”, and students with other statuses should take it as well voluntarily.

Please be aware that if you leave the University of Tsukuba, you will no longer be able to use your “@u.tsukuba.ac.jp” from Active!mail or email clients.
If you remain as a member of the university after resignation or retirement, you can continue to use your @u.tsukuba.ac.jp by submitting an application.
Please review the following information and take necessary steps depending on your situation.

1. If you do not remain as a member of the university after resignation or retirement

By setting up email forwarding, messages sent to your @u.tsukuba.ac.jp can be received at another email address. This email forwarding is valid for six months after resignation or retirement.

All the Terminals will Start up Automatically (3/30)

Date: 2018/03/30 (Fri) Middle of the night – 04/02 (Mon) Early in the morning

For maintenance, all the terminals will start up automatically at 03/30 (Fri), Middle of the night.
The maintenance will be done in the background so you can continue to use it even if you have already logged in.
If you start using a terminal during the above time period, operate as usual from the login standby screen.
You can shut down or restart manually during the above time period, but when finishing using a terminal, please restart or sign-out instead of shutting down and keep the terminal running if possible.

Problem of accessing PDF with Internet Explorer

A problem has been reported:
When accessing a PDF file with Internet Explorer of the Zengaku Computer System, an error message such as “Adobe Acrobat または Reader に問題があります (There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat or Reader)” is displayed and the PDF file cannot be opened.

We are currently investigating causes and measures. Since it seems that PDF files can open with Firefox or Chrome, in this case please use Firefox or Chrome.

Data Deletion of Previous Zengaku Compter System

Old data was deleted on April 23,2018.

* This notice is for users who had an account before March 2017 and used to save files to their home directory on the previous Zengaku Computer System. It is not related to those who have an account created in or after FY 2017 or those who only use email of @u.tsukuba.ac.jp or @s.tsukuba.ac.jp.

 

The Zengaku Computer System was renewed in March 2017. Due to this renewal, all user home data in the previous system has been moved to another location. The details can be found on the following page:

All the data in this location will be deleted from April 21 to 23, 2018 (while no data will be deleted from mailboxes (Mail Home)).
After the deletion, users will no longer be able to access their old data.

During the maintenance work on Sunday, October 29, there was a problem that emails of the @u.tsukuba.ac.jp domain cannot be sent and received during the following period.

Warning: Do not use outlet in satellite computer rooms

There were smoke emission and ignition accidents of personal devices plugged into electrical outlets in satellite computer rooms. Except for permitted devices such as satellite terminals and projectors, do not use power taps and outlets in computer rooms.

Do not remove connected plugs without permission, because removing them causes to interfere with classes and maintenance works.
